Leigh’s working career has been spent mostly in the hydrocarbon and chemical processing industries with spells at KTI/Mannesmann, Lurgi Öl-Gas-Chemie and ABB Lummus mostly as a business development and project development professional. Leigh has lived and worked in several countries including the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa and China. In 2007 he joined Alstom Power based in Switzerland where has focussed over the past three years on developing the White Rose CCS Project. Leigh studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) from 1979 to 1985. After completing his BSc in 1982 he continued as a post graduate at UMIST receiving his PhD in 1985.
