Jukka Laaksonen was Director General of STUK, nuclear regulatory body in Finland, in 1997-2012. He started his regulatory career at STUK in 1974, and also worked with USNRC in 1981-82 and the IAEA in 1987-89. He has been active in international co-operation on nuclear safety and has held several chairmanships in international bodies. Among these are ∙ WENRA (Western Europe Nuclear Regulators Association) and ∙ OECD/NEA’s Committee for Nuclear Regulatory Activities. Since April 2012, he works with Rusatom Overseas and is also member of the International Advisory Board of the Government of United Arab Emirates.
