John has spent over 50 years in the electrical power industry world wide. He retired in 2005 to form an independent consultancy that supports Andritz Hydro GmbH of Austria in the UK and Ireland. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the IET, & life senior member of the IEEE (US). He is a visiting lecturer at Portsmouth University Business School and an Associate at the Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering & Technology, Department of Engineering, at the University of Cambridge. He is an England Hockey National League match delegate. He was appointed a Hockey Games Maker at the London 2012 Olympics in the hockey sports information centres based at the Riverside Arena & Athletes Village.
