Director, Track Assessment
Union Pacific Railroad
Matt Moore is currently the Director, Track Assessment for Union Pacific Railroad, leading the assessment programs for ties, roadbed and track geometry, and the capital renewal program development for these assets. Prior to this position, Matt served as Manager, Track Projects for the Council Bluffs Service Unit, leading project development and execution for the Service Unit capital program. Before serving as MTP, Matt was Director, Construction South where he led capacity expansion construction in the Southern Region in support of emerging crude oil and frac sand business. Matt joined Union Pacific in 2009 in the Engineering Department as the Director, Total Cost of Ownership where he led productivity initiatives in Engineering capital programs. Matt came to Union Pacific from McKinsey & Company in Houston, TX, where he served clients in chemical & petroleum refining operations and capital project value improvement. He began his career in the United States Navy, Civil Engineer Corps, where he served for nine years on the East and West Coasts, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Matt holds a professional engineer license in Utah and received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. Matt is the Vice Chairman of AREMA Committee 41, Track Maintenance and spends free time with his wife, Jessica, and their 3 young children. Matt also enjoys competitive swimming and winter sports.
