Cesare Santanera
CEO
DMA
Cesare Santanera started DMA in 1997: the core business was, from the very beginning, the development of measurement devices, mainly dedicated to the railway field. The idea was to take advantage of the know how Cesare Santanera had in the electronics and optics for ATE and the telecommunications, to design state-of-the-art instruments for the railways. The family history was important for selecting the railways industry: being born in a “railwaymen” family brought that long experience and knowledge that can't be built in a while. Cesare Santanera, as DMA CEO, has managed projects in cooperation with DB, SNCF, RFI, Trenitalia, Infrabel, SBBand many other customers in Europe and in the USA. Among these projects, a remarkable one is the first system in the world capable of measuring the turn outs and crossings under load, including cross sections and longitudinal geometry. Other important projects are about the development of wayside monitoring equipment reducing the impact on the track maintenance to a minimum. Monitoring the rolling stock and the infrastructure means a huge amount of data is produced. Conventional methods are not suited to take advantage of these data. Cesare Santanera has managed projects for the optimal data usage in the frame of proactive maintenance strategies. The competence in the wheel-rail interaction analysis is quintessential to develop strategies to reduce the dynamic forces and prevent friction, especially for high speed or heavy axle-load railway systems: Cesare Santanera has worked in this area since 20 years, in cooperation with the railways technical departments and with rolling stock manufacturers.
