Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring first brought the term Live Sawn to the NWFA in 2004. We've always been known for our Rift & Quarter Sawn, but we needed to utilize logs that weren't qualified for traditional quarter sawning. We began live sawning (old sawmill term) these logs to get more narrow R&Q lumber, but we ended up with a lot of lumber that didn't fit into a typical grade. We began making this live sawn with the mix of plain sawn and RQ grain into flooring and it's been a huge success. Most people in the industry are now aware of the term "live sawn". It's not all created equal though. Visit our booth and see the difference.
