Health equity plays a key role in preventing, identifying and investigating fraud, waste and abuse. Individuals whose social determinants lead to health disparities are often vulnerable to fraud; are disproportionately impacted by fraud prevention safeguards; and are less able to mitigate the harm caused by fraud or broader quality of care issues.
