Restaurant owners/employers attending this presentation will gain a basic understanding of California criminal workers’ compensation fraud and effective anti-fraud strategies and programs. With this knowledge they will be able to understand general workers’ compensation fraud questions including how to identify suspected fraudulent claims and other suspect fraudulent schemes so these matters can be reported to the appropriate authorities when workers’ compensation fraud is suspected. This presentation will include the multi-media review of actual successful workers’ compensation fraud prosecutions and focus on California anti-fraud statutes/regulations and on the role of insurance carrier Special Investigation Units, the California Department of Insurance Fraud Division, and local District Attorney Prosecuting Units which actively investigates and prosecutes criminal workers’ compensation fraud.
