Addressing PFAS in Groundwater Monitoring Programs at MSW Landfills (Room Exhibit Hall Booth 513)

Tracks: Disposal Operations

Many landfills are now required to sample for PFAS in their groundwater monitoring programs. Regulatory guidance often states that sampling equipment made from "Teflon" and other fluoropolymers can't be used for PFAS sampling. Many sites have used sampling systems with Teflon for more than three decades, and are now faced with having to figure out what to do to avoid sample contamination or false positive results. This Catalyst session will answer questions about PFAS sampling, how to determine if existing sampling equipment can be used, and offers alternatives where Teflon is no longer acceptable.
