The recent deployment of a low-cost novel vibration sensor system to manage flow slug induced vibration on subsea pipelines was the first step in the new generation of subsea sensors targeted to create a smart digital platform. Efficient deployment and collection of data was accomplished by incorporating a digital approach through the design cycle. The digitization made possible by this system has shown to provide valuable intelligence to optimize operations, reduce intervention costs and provide critical insights into pipeline life extension.
