The presentation will address the methods and results for life extension, revenue increase and operating cost reductions actually achieved on midlife to older wind turbines. Wind energy technology has both advanced technically and grown in capacity to a large extent. The turbines installed 15-30 years ago represent opportunities for increased life expectancy and economic rewards. The presentation will describe recent success in both life extension and economic improvement through advances in computer control, modern sensors, data diagnostics, and operating protocols. Specific examples with data, charts and photos will provide the audience with relevant and easy to understand paths toward turbine life extension and greater economic results.
