New developments in on-site generation include locating small reciprocating engine peaking plants close the load or as part of a municipal electric system providing reliability while also enabling the growth of renewable generation. These plant can be set up as hybrids, combining gas-fired engines with energy storage and solar power. The hybrid plants are also ideal for on-site generation for large commercial, industrial or data center customers. Cases will be presented for both the US and Mexico.
