Linking Siloxane Removal to Tailpipe Emissions Performance (Room Ballroom B)

26 Feb 19
1:45 PM - 3:30 PM

Tracks: Landfill Gas and Biogas Symposium

Siloxanes in landfill gas have an acute negative impact on the operation of emission control systems downstream of recip or turbine power modules. Abatement of siloxanes to levels conducive to the operation of emission control systems for reasonable periods of time before replacement has been a relative industry struggle. However, state and local regulations continue to push operators into the use of oxidation catalysts and SCR systems to meet thresholds on NOx, CO, VOCs etc. GraniteFuel will present data from two operational sites linking siloxane removal to tailpipe emissions performance. In addition, approximate operational costs will be evaluated, thus not only providing some guidance as to what technologies are available for compliance, but how they impact bottom line.
