For offshore wind to be sustainable, the potential impacts to wildlife must be managed. This presentation will provide a summary of the most current information on potential impacts to plankton, benthos, fish, fisheries, birds, bats, marine mammals, and sea turtles. There are both universal and unique concerns associated with these groups of organisms, and the stressors and impacts of offshore wind may differ depending on geography and wind technologies. In some cases, potential stressors and impacts may not be likely to occur or to effect populations, but it is important that stressors and impacts that have been identified in public outreach, agency documents, and the scientific literature be considered and addressed. Consolidation of the best available information is an important step to understanding the scope and scale of public, regulatory, and biological concerns and prioritizing and addressing the issues in a systematic framework that meets stakeholder and ecosystem needs.
