Wind Lidar allow offshore wind energy developments to get more actionable data during resource assessments, during construction, and during plant operation than almost any other system. However, deploying and using them effectively requires different approaches than for traditional met masts. IEA Wind Task 32 exists to share experience between wind lidar users in more than 10 countries across Europe, North America, and Asia. This presentation discusses some of the main lessons learned through IEA Wind Task 32 for all phases of plant design, construction, and operation.
