The present offshore renewable energy (ORE) market is focused on fixed wind power extraction, but as the global market advances and turbine size increases floating wind systems will become more prevalent. There are clear technical and economic advantages in sharing the cost of a floating platform across multiple energy extraction systems. The degree of integration for the type and quantity of ORE systems should take full advantage of all the energy mechanisms available in the development environment. Central to this study is the idea that the energy vested in the ocean forces which the platform must withstand should be captured rather than simply applying platform designs which resist them.
