Tracks: Latest Trends

There is a renewed focus on the prevention of building-associated Legionnaires’ disease stemming from recent outbreaks and new regulations and standards, including but not limited to ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 188 and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Compliance with these new regulations and standards raises expectations for managing waterborne pathogens during design, construction, and operation of building water systems including but not limited to hospitals, nursing homes, and hotels. There is not only new liability to the building owner, but also to the engineering community. In this presentation the panel will review some of the steps that the plumbing engineer can take to not only minimize the owner’s risk but also mitigating the engineer’s risk.
