Tracks: Equipment Exploration

Speaker(s): Reece Robinson, .
Short Description: With more focus on energy efficiency these days, building owners will rely on engineers to assist in the determination of efficient pumping solutions. For variable flow systems this poses some challenges when parallel pumps are evaluated. This course will help engineers answer questions like: “How many pumps should our system use?” “How should we sequence (stage) on additional pumps” “How can pumps run efficiently at low flow” Learning objectives: Upon successful completion of the course learners will be able to: • Understand what a control curve is • Select pumps so that they will operate where they’re most efficient • Determine the allowable operating region for a speed controlled pump • Understand pump sequencing methods • Understand how to save energy at low flow
