Tracks: System Design

Speaker(s): Kevin Melisz, .
This discussion will help engineers develop a better understanding of compressed air systems, specifically, the compressed air distribution plumbing. The presentation will help engineers design more efficient systems for their clients. The discussion will cover the entire scope of a compressed air system, but focus more thoroughly on the air distribution plumbing. It will explain how each variable impacts air pressure, air quality, and energy costs. Learning Objectives: • Be able to determine the best layout and size for an efficient compressed air plumbing system • Be able to select an appropriate sized compressed air receiver tank • Understand the long term benefits/effects of pipe material selection • Understand the difference between compressed air generated pressure and distributed pressure and application pressure • Understand basic reasons why compressed air energy is commonly wasted and ways to reduce this waste • Understand how to properly manage compressed air condensate waste stream
