Being mindful in your practice with dogs and clients can really improve your overall health body, mind, and soul. Working with dogs & people as a career is often highly emotional. Are we reacting or responding to our cases? In a world that is often full of multitasking, planning and pawing our way to the top, we strive for control of things around us and for many this brings along with it worry and anxiety. When was the last time you were fully present while working with your client? Did you focus on observation and/or interpretation? Being present involves acceptance, without believing, that there’s a right or wrong way to feel in each moment. Mindfulness is maintaining a moment-to- moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and the surrounding environment. You cannot force the Zen! But you can learn about holistic ways of thinking to better serve your clients, their dogs and yourself.
