24 - Can You Defend Your Training? (Room 26A)

Training is an important element of an effective overall safety, health and environmental program. The American National Standards Committee Z490.1 on Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training Standard was created in response to the recognized need for improvement in environmental, health and safety training. In this session, we’ll explore why quality training is required to ensure that workers and EHS professionals have the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to protect themselves and others in the workplace. We’ll discuss how the standard covers the major elements of an effective training program to ensure workers are properly trained and educated on workplace hazards, risks and controls.
