How timeless design influences modern day trends

What is considered “timeless design” in today’s modern-day world? Are there features of the home people lean towards for a more classic and timeless look versus trendy and design-forward? When people look to purchase and/or furnish a new residence, they look for familiar components that transform a household into a home. In the design sphere, “timeless” can mean preserving and adapting historic architectural spaces and features to modern day life. “Timeless” can also mean blending furnishings, lighting and decor from different eras.

  • In product, Italian marble has been used for decades and is still seen throughout most design styles. For those who still want the timeless marble look without the hefty price tag, modern technology allowed for porcelain tile to replicate the marble look at a more affordable price.
  • In appliances, the stovetop design has remained untarnished and adds depth and character, which is seen in French designer stoves like Le Cornue.
  • In finishes, brass, which was birthed in the early days of the industrial era, is still a prominent and timeless finish seen in kitchens, baths, doors, etc. in modern homes today.
