The Future of Manufacturing Depends on Skilled Trades - How to Attract and Retain Future Talent
American manufacturing continues to face a labor crisis. Skilled tradesmen are retiring at an accelerated rate. The ability to fill these open, technical and high paying positions remains a challenge. Without the ability to train and replace skilled tradesmen, manufacturing operations are at risk of coming to a complete stop. Making the attracting and hiring process more difficult is that the Millennial generation, which represents the greatest pool of young, new talent to fill these positions, are not interested in the great opportunities that careers in skilled trades provide. This talk discusses how to change perceptions of manufacturing and what is needed to draw and retain this great talent group into skilled trades positions and to in turn help companies continue to achieve long term success.
