Making Relationship: Boundaries and Balances (Room JW Grand Ballroom 7)

Be it friendship or marriage or something in between, the two skills I will introduce are important for getting what you want and avoiding what you abhor. The first is knowing what your boundaries are and the rules you have about them. Researchers talk about enmeshment — where boundaries are not clear — and over rigidity — where boundaries lack flexibility. The other skill is to find the right balance of giving and receiving, being accountable and holding the other person accountable. This balance changes over time and experience with a person. It also seems that these two skills take on different meaning at various times of our lives. This is an interactive discussion. Please be present at the beginning so that you can participate in the activities.
