This presentation will address the creative process and its relationship to our traditional ideas of intelligence. Where do ideas come from? How do they develop and take shape, ultimately evolving into a finished story? How does the brain work to make this happen? Barbara Shoup will chart her process through a recent novel, bringing insight to the various aspects of the journey from idea to book. She will also explore the many ways other writers make that journey, with examples from more than 50 interviews with novelists and short story writers. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
