The use of the hands, wrist and forearm in daily living activities is constant and begins the important kinetic chain of function of the upper extremity. The essential functions of independent feeding, personal hygiene, safety and health rely on a person's ability to use their upper extremities. Without the use of hands or the significant reduction in use-of-hand potential, due to restricted movement and pain will almost always result in some degree of social, workplace and psychological challenges for the individual. Using our hands is taken for granted, so often, that when soft-tissue challenges interfere with their function, the impact can be devastating and debilitating.
