Appropriately documenting, diagnosis selection and claims review must be very precise and specific.   To achieve this, your team must work as a cohesive unit so as to ensure that everyone understands what is being communicated by the patient, in the documentation and to third-party payors or other authorized parties.  While DCs may not have such a challenge with this in terms of knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology; for chiropractic assistants this area of understanding is often a weak link.

As we lay the foundation for these critical topics of training, today’s chiropractic assistant must be better equipped to decipher medical record documentation. In the medical community, professional coders decipher the English from the documentation, and turn it into numbers for billing…both CPT codes and ICD codes.

In order to best assist our chiropractors, CAs will need to be armed with the knowledge of all the terminology used in documentation and diagnosis, along with its Latin derivatives. In this mastery session, learn to decode the medical documentation jargon you see every day so that you can be most effective in your job, whether at the front desk, back office, or in billing.
