Over the course of my 30-year career, It has become evident that leadership encompasses more than coercive action from the top. More importantly, Its defining characteristics change according to the needs of the individual, the industry, the organization, and society. Thinking back on my past and reflecting on those experiences, I've been better able to tailor how I make decisions, communicate with people, and manage my time to serve the organization's most pressing needs better. In other words, leadership is not a state; it's a journey.
