Business Continuity: Reflecting on Natural Disaster Responses (Room B404)

“In 2017, the U.S. experienced a rare combination of high disaster frequency, disaster cost, and diversity of weather and climate extreme events.”
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

Cable Operators must continually prepare and respond throughout the year to address the impact of natural disasters.  The size and scale of the challenges faced from hurricanes and wildfires put even the best plans to the test.  In this session, several leading cable operators will detail the challenges they faced, how they worked through the preparation, response and recovery phases, their lessons learned, and the next steps being taken to make them more resilient.  For cable operators this session will also highlight the importance of building strong cross sector relationships especially with power providers and offices of emergency management.

Finally, we will also be fortunate to have a Senior DHS Official to review the After Action Report (AAR) from the historic 2017 hurricane season and discuss lessons learned.
