It's About Time (Literally): Service Delivery Orchestration (Room B314)

Multicasting a unicast video stream to optimize capacity is all well and good -- for file-based content. For live/linear video streaming, another layer of complexity kicks in, which is simultaneously solving for reduced network latency, and increased volume of requests/storage/delivery. Otherwise known as what happens when you need to go to ramming speed on all network fronts. Comcast’s Yasser Sayed explains what contributes to network latency, and what to do about it.  Also: Ericsson’s Prabhu Navali characterizes which building blocks are useful when thinking through how to “software-define” service orchestration for something like multicast-ABR video delivery. Example: Dynamic content propagation, based on user demand.
