The development of on-line inspection technologies is gaining focus in the rolling mills due to the new trend of digitization. Imaging-based approach along with ever-stronger digital processing chips has brought substantial advancement to the bar and rod industry. On-line instruments are applied to the end of line finished products and beyond. Considerations are given to raw materials, intermediate rolling stocks, and the merge of different technologies and sensor network. It is providing high value to the users as well as leading to the emerging quality-oriented data analytics.
