Recent development of wireless-connected inspection instruments and cloud-based software solutions are enabling efficiency gains in the management of data collected during manufacturing processes. Real time transfer of process data from inspection devices to applications via the internet allow for rapid data analysis, monitored progress of daily inspection tasks, as well as a reduction of manual data processing for reporting. Real time updates (i.e lot/heat information, quality control guidelines, etc) introduced to inspection equipment provide process management controls to satisfy Industry 4.0 best practices. This paper covers advances in electronics and data transfer to provide a streamlined and efficient inspection process.
