Effect of Different Iron Ore Pellet Qualities on the HYL Direct Reduction Process (Room 402)

The effect of different iron ore pellet quality in the HYL direct reduction process was evaluated with focus on productivity, quality and fines generation. Pellets were selected from different plants and the tests were carried out through bag test. Experimental results show that the direct reduced iron (DRI) metallization varies from 85.1% to 94.6 %, while the internal pellet specific area increases and oxygen content decreases. A relationship was found between the % MgO and alkalis and the carbon in the DRI. The productivity with these pellet is affected, in the range of +2.9% to -7.6% .
