Evolution of Inclusions in High-Sulfur and Low-Oxygen Steels After Calcium Treatment (Room 410)

The evolution of inclusions in high-sulfur and low-oxygen steels after calcium treatment was investigated through industrial experiments. After the calcium addition, the Al2O3 inclusions were modified to CaS-Al2O3 instead of the liquid CaO-Al2O3. The content of CaS in inclusions reached 60%. The morphology of the inclusions after calcium treatment was revealed by electrolysis erosion. Effects of total oxygen (T.O.) content, sulfur content and dissolved aluminum content on the evolution of inclusions after calcium treatment were calculated using Factsage 7.0 software, indicating that the content of T.O. and S has a significant influence on the modification of inclusions.
