This paper is a review of off-corner cracks, an internal defect in continuous casting semis. The discussion includes the metallographic features of the defect; the formation mechanism; ways to avoid it through optimization of steel chemistry, mold design and operating conditions; as well as the evolution of the defect in the rolled products and consequences in the in-service performance of steel components.
