Vibration Analysis on Electrode Column in AC EAF Based on Local Force Densities Developed by Rapid Change of Current and Arc Stability (Room 406)

The EAF has one of the most non-linear loads, with extreme power that can induce severe power quality problems in the network. The nature of the load (arc) is so non-linear and highly varying that, along with the dynamic nature of the path of current, it creates a huge swing in the electromagnetic forces, in turn causing vibrations. It this study, an attempt is made to correlate between vibration intensity caused by electromagnetic forces on the electrode column, the charge quality and the arc stability. Through high-frequency measurements and complex calculations, the forces on the electrode columns are compared between different conditions.
