Tracks: Direct Reduced Iron

MgO-added fluxed pellet was investigated to optimize MgO content in the ironmaking process in order to satisfy both the viscosity of BF slag and strength of sinter. The pellet was made by iron ore mixed with coke breeze, bentonite, cement as well as MgO sources. The properties of pellet including swelling, compressive strength and reduction disintegration were evaluated with different MgO content (1.5% to 6.0%) adjusted by diverse MgO sources such as dolomite, nickel slag and MgO-containg iron ore. As a result, the optimum MgO content was found about 3% to secure the properties of pellet in the experiment condition.
