Developments of Dephosphorization at Hyundai Steel (Room 409)

Dephosphorization has always been viewed as a challenge in the steelmaking process. Compared to steelmakers in Europe, since the P concentration of hot metal is higher and as the P content in iron ore is expected to increase gradually in the future, it’s always necessary to concentrate on dephosphorization. Hyundai Steel has been developing and testing various operating technologies for the production of 100-120 ppm P-grade steel by utilizing the dephosphorization-decarburization and double-slag process at the beginning. In recent years, a double slag and dephosphorization-decarburization process technology has been developed that can cope with P-grade 80 ppm and 50 ppm steel grade.
