Advanced Cold Isostatic Press MgO-C Brick (Room 319)

Cold isostatic press (CIP) is widely used for manufacturing shaped refractories. CIP made it possible to manufacture large mono-piece products, like tuyere or taphole sleeve for BOF and EAF. Tuyeres and taphole sleeves perform a key role in the BOF/EAF in many cases. A high-durability mono-piece tuyere refractory has been developed by improving the fracture toughness. A low-carbon taphole sleeve has also been developed, which can be manufactured as mono-piece. These products are showing excellent durability in the actual furnace application. This report details the refractories properties and the results in the actual application.
