On-line robotics are changing the costs and risks associated with industrial water tank cleaning. By keeping tanks full and on-line, water is not wasted or dumped into the environment, so there is no need to refill and retreat the tank. Sludge pulled out of tanks is dewatered, creating dry waste, which is safer to dispose of. This is all good for the environment. Robots — not people — enter tanks to inspect and clean them. Exposure and confined space entries are significantly reduced. This increases employee safety and reduces the risks associated with tank cleaning.
