Periodic defects in hot rolling are some of the most critical ones. Timely detection may dramatically reduce the number of bad coils to be delivered. The use of eddy current testing, combined with vision and other sensors, can get results from the very first occurrences. It is especially important in the case of broken rolls. This paper will present a comprehensive way to detect broken rolls, guides or other defects with a high precision.
