Automation is at the heart of any manufacturing facility. Proper life-cycle planning can help facilities stay current with ever changing technology. Delayed or outdated system migrations can become unexpected high co+AC14st projects and can cause facilities to reduce manufacturing or shift production to competitors. Most sites do not have experience upgrading to new automation platforms nor the understanding of the technology and features available in modern control systems. This presentation will cover basic steps for upgrading a facility with new automation technology, and will offer different approaches for the planning process.
