Tracks: Asset Management

The current proposal details the procedures, challenges, and design of a comprehensive Wind GADS reporting platform within the Bazefield Operations Management System. As required by NERC starting in 2018, sites above 75 MW or greater of total installed capacity are required to submit 2 forms of monthly reporting to describe the availability of their asset(s). While the requirement exists, there lacks standard methodology and software for users to automate this process. For owners with multiple types of wind turbines, this additionally becomes even more of a challenge as the data models between manufacturers are not consistent. The current work will detail a procedure developed using both real time OPC data and historical SCADA SQL data to uniformly present all wind GADS performance metrics in a standard report and application front end. This includes alarm classification to GADS performance standards, event triggering, and shadow editing capability to fix erroneous availability classifications. Overall, the system is designed to lessen the burden and time spent by users on delivering monthly GADS reports to NERC.
