Maximizing Maintenance Dollars in a Post PTC World (Room Windsor Complex)

Tracks: Maintenance

The phasedown of the Renewable Electricity Production Tax Credit (PTC) will effectively cause wind operators to reduce their operations and maintenance (O&M) budgets, putting many of them in a challenging position. That’s because, despite the reduced budgets, they will have to find ways to maintain the same level of equipment productivity to achieve their energy production commitments.

To maintain equipment productivity, operators will need to maximize their maintenance dollars, making sure that the O&M investments they make are as impactful as possible.

Achieving this starts with building an efficient, insights-driven lubrication program that incorporates the right lubrication solutions and the use of technical services such as used oil analysis. An operator’s choice in lubricant can have a significant impact on turbine performance – in some cases providing operators with the opportunity to extend equipment maintenance service intervals by several years. Similarly, incorporating services like regular used oil analysis can provide operators with critical insights into equipment performance to help address equipment performance challenges before they result in unscheduled downtime.

This presentation will provide operators with a better understanding of how they can design a lubrication program that will help them cost-effectively enhance long-term equipment reliability and productivity.
