The Mental Health Perspectives from Medics to Leadership: Insight into Current Research (Room Maryland Ballroom C)

First responder mental health has gained much needed attention in recent years due to high rates of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicide. We will discuss the disconnect in communication between all levels of leadership, from medical directors to field providers, and how this challenge can be overcome. The value of open communication within the department culture will be explored. Gain insight into some of the factors associated with burnout, stress, and overall mental fatigue.  We will take a look into the current research, including data from the CrewCare project. Leave with an understanding of resources available to help manage your personal well-being and how to improve awareness within your department.
