This presentation explains how a unit dispatched to a medical emergency can quickly and effectively identify it as a technical rescue incident. This presentation also explains how to understand immediate hazards, request needed resources, and operate safely within their scope until properly trained units arrive. Being that technical rescue incidents are considered to be "low frequency / high risk", it is imperative that first arriving units fully understand what constitutes a technical rescue incident so that personnel do not end up as "would-be rescuers". By examining past incidents and reinforcing proper safety precautions, students will be able to fully understand proper steps to take on various types of technical rescue incidents prior to the arrival of trained personnel.
