The experiences of every first-responder organization are unique and are often based on geographical region, system design, organizational framework and first-hand experiences. Preparedness for active shooter/hostile environment continues to evolve as organizations are identifying unique methods of ensuring preparedness, training, and resource allocation. In this presentation, attendees will gain insight on how one Metropolitan Fire-Based EMS System took the lessons learned from a tragic mass shooting and channeled their efforts at procuring and equipping their personnel, training all responders and command staff, and revising their policies on responses to scenes of violence. Understanding the culture of your organization and ensuring a collaborative relationship with joint response partners are also essential to the preparedness to respond to Active Shooter/Hostile situations.
