Medical errors stem from 3 broad categories: 1) Procedural, 2) Affective, 3) Cognitive. Recognizing these errors and personal biases, as well as applying different decision making strategies can reduce and hopefully prevent such cases. Dr. Will Smith will show how crew resource management (CRM) and other systems of care approaches can not only prevent and/or reduce EMS medical errors, but often times improve patient satisfaction, while providing optimal patient care.
