Dr. Michael Wilcox will present multiple important applications of Community Paramedicine in this informative lecture with and special focus on how Community Paramedicine can be effectively used for geriatric and special needs care in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospice units, and adult day care units to help prevent recurring readmissions and reduce the transportation demands on EMS. He will also cover how Community Paramedicine can be used in penal institutions to help provide primary care, assist with mental health/chemical dependency initiatives and help prevent after hours transport to EDs/Urgent Care centers for problems that are not, by their nature, true emergencies. Topics covered will include program overviews, recommended training and the importance of sharing data with other HC facilities via the EMR.
