Tracks: Basics of Clinical Practice

This lecture will discuss novel uses of waveform EtCO2 monitoring for both BLS and ALS providers. Dr. Andrew Latimer will cover the history and science behind waveform capnography as well information that can be gained from the waveform beyond the value and slope. He will introduce you to the concept of "EtCO2 Gap" and how providers can use this information to more safely manage the airways of critically ill and complex patients. He will utilize real EtCO2 waveform recordings from pre-hospital airways managed by the Seattle Fire Department Medic One program and actual cases to illustrate more advanced concepts.
